The Wise Wellness Method

"Wise Wellness" is my approach to implementing functional medicine in my practice and training programs.
To be wise means to use the 3 factors below to guide decision-making for lifelong wellness.

Knowledge

Understanding how the body works and using the evidence provided by research studies provides a great starting point for taking action.

Experience

There hasn’t been a study for every person or scenario. Further refine and adjust the plan based on the provider’s and individual’s observations.

Intuition

We must listen to our body and heart. When it comes to its own needs, our body is wiser than any doctor or scientist on the planet! Adjust daily based on signals.

What is Functional Medicine?

Both conventional and functional medicine are evidence-based. However, the latter uses the research as it’s being released (rather than the typical 15 to 30-year delay), and incorporates all the research, not just the studies on medications and disease.

Per the Institute For Functional Medicine: “By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, Functional Medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms.”

Functional Medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health. The goal is positive vitality, rather than an absence of disease.

In summary, functional medicine is truly healthcare, while the traditional model has mostly become sickcare.
